Stock Pre-School is a registered charity run by a Management Committee of volunteer parents and supporters of the Pre-School. The Committee work within the parameters of a constitution and any profits made are put back into the Pre-School.
Committee members are elected each year at the AGM and any member of the Pre-School can choose to stand for a role on the committee. All committee members are registered as Directors of the Company and have to undergo the necessary checks by all interested parties including Companies House, The Charities Commission, Ofsted and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The Committee role is strategic rather than operational with regards the day to day running of the Pre-School. Some of the work involved includes; reviewing Policies and Procedures, setting a financial framework and overseeing finances and Recruitment of staff. The committee generally meet once a term, although sometimes this is more frequent dependent on what they are working on.
In addition, the Committee play a vital role in Fundraising for the Pre-School. Government funding levels put the Pre-School under enormous pressure financially making break even extremely hard to achieve and therefore fundraising is of paramount importance. Funds raised from events we have held really make the difference – they allow us to renew and replace toys and books, invest in new equipment, regenerate the gardening area and resurface the outside space as well as ensuring we can afford to have a good ratio of highly qualified staff in each session.
Recent fundraising events organised have included a Murder Mystery Night, a Motown Night, Teddy Bears Picnic, Easter Children’s Club, an Abba Night, selling Christmas puddings and hosting a professional children’s photographer.
The Pre-School cannot run without its committee, so if you think you may like to join at some point or get involved with fundraising events then please contact the Chair.
Hayley Adams – Chair person
Hayley joined the Pre-School in 2018 and quickly became a valued member of our committee. In November 2019 Hayley took on the senior role of Chair person and is now over sees the Committee group and liaises regularly with our Manager Lisa
Jo Moore- Treasurer
Jo Moore joined the Pre-School in 2011 as a parent and took over the role of Chair person in 2016. Jo no longer has children at the Pre-School but has now taken on the role of Treasurer. She liaises with our Manager Lisa and Admin & Finance Officer Nicola on a regular basis ensuring all financial aspects of the Pre-School are running smoothly.
